Kit's Great Idea

Wow - I haven't written in a long time. My foot healed - mostly- and I've been busy this Fall, but I lost the cord to get pictures off my cameras! I'll try to update all my Fall adventures when I can - I saw wild horses on Assateague Island and I went to Wildwood, New Jersey.

First, though - the rest of Kit's great idea.

I was feeling very sorry for myself, indeed, when I heard a knock at the door.
I called, "Come in!" and in stepped my friend Kit, straight from a baseball game in 1934.

"Hi, there!" said Kit as she hurried in. "You'll never guess who scored the win-"
Kit stopped short.

"Hey, wait! Why are you still in bed? It's the middle of the day." Kit sounded worried. "You don't have Scarlet fever, do you? You look terrible!"

I was a little embarassed. I was being pretty lazy, had slept in the clothes I was wearing yesterday, and hadn't even changed.
Well, they were comfortable.
I laughed and showed her my hurt ankle. And explained that not only had I already had Scarlet Fever way back in the third grade, but doctors have medicine for that, so it's no big deal anymore.

Relieved, Kit came over and sat down beside me. She told me that she had scored the winning run at her baseball game today! Then, she wanted to know what happened. I told her everything.

"Well, my friends and I had Scarlet Fever. We were stuck in bed for days! We had a lot of fun writing together. Do you want to write a newspaper with me?" Kit asked.
I explained that people don't read newspapers as much as they did in her time.
"Well, what do people like to write, then? You have that computer, don't people write on there?
I thought and thought - then realized she was right - I could start a blog! There are several other American Girls whose blogs I LOVE to read!

"You like to make things, don't you?" Kit asked. "My Aunt Millie does, too. She also helped us go on some pretty neat adventures. We wrote a book about it called the Waste-Not-Want-Not Almanac."
Now, that was a GREAT idea! It's awesome to be green and recycle things into new things, and that's definitely one thing I want to learn how to do more. I also want to share my own adventures. An Almanac was the perfect idea! I'll write Cassie's Almanac!
Kit and I were excited to start, but first she helped get me a new outfit and my hairbrush, since I wasn't up for walking around my room yet.

Now, my blog is all ready to get started! My foot is (mostly) healed now, and I can't wait to start writing with my friends!

Stuck in Bed

Thursday, I was very excited about getting to be lazy and stay in bed for the whole day.

I picked out one of my favorite books to read.

And as I read and read, my mom brought me stacks of books so I could keep on reading.

I read for hours - my books, old magazines, everything, until I fell fast asleep in the middle of one.

My kitty woke me up, and I played with her for a little while.

Then I played computer games.

I played more computer games.

I went shopping online and made a wish list of things I wanted to buy. Some of my favorites were: these awesome "Full of Awesome" shirts.

The "I <3 Math" shirts - perfect for my 8-year-old cousins!

And this "Forget 'Princess,' Call me 'President'" shirt for me, of course!
Of course, my mom said, "Not now, maybe for back-to-school."
Aaargh! More waiting!

At lunchtime, I started watching my favorite TV show. (It's sometimes scary, so I can't watch it when my little sister is here!) I watched more and worked on a craft project. It's going to be a sampler like Samantha's, but it has a quote about friends.

And I napped more - straight through dinnertime!

Friday morning started out as more of the same - with me still stuck in bed. I continued watching episode after episode of my favorite show. I think my eyes were starting to get tired from staring at that screen!

I was watching still more TV when I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in!" I called, expecting that my sister must have gotten home.
Instead, in stepped my friend Kit, straight from a baseball game in 1934.

Bored!

I'm bored. Bored, Bored, BORED!!!

It's the middle of summer. It's not raining out. School doesn't start for another two weeks. I have a ton of books and toys, I live down the street from a really cool playground (there's a jungle gym shaped like a FISH!), and river with a great path for biking or skating. We have passes to my favorite museums, and I have family and friends to hang out with. So, why am I bored?

It all started on Wednesday afternoon when I was at the playground. I was running, and I twisted my ankle. I seem to do that a lot lately, so I got up and kept running. Then, I was just walking downstairs, and I twisted my ankle AGAIN! This time, I felt a CRUNCH and went sliding down the stairs. It hurt so much - worse than any other twisted ankle I've ever had!

I rested all afternoon, with ice and everything. But, that night, my ankle still hurt and I couldn't walk. I was pretty scared, so I saw a doctor and got x-rays. The good news is, my foot wasn't broken. The bad news is, my foot has a really bad sprain. The doctor told me to stay off it for the WHOLE WEEKEND, wrapped it up, and sent me home with crutches.

I had to sit in bed ALL DAY Thursday. At first, it was fun. I got to watch tv on my laptop, play games on my laptop, play with my kitties, and do some crafts. It was even fun getting anything I wanted brought to me in bed. But then I was stuck with whatever I could reach from my bed. I couldn't even get a drink of water without help! And people kept forgetting about me... :(

I LOVE being lazy. But, it's no fun not doing ANYTHING!

ONE day being that lazy was ENOUGH for this American Girl. But, I still had 3 days to go! I was so happy when my friend Kit stopped by to visit today. And Kit had a GREAT idea - this blog! I can't WAIT to tell you all about it next time!
